William de Gale, Co-Founder & Lead Portfolio Manager

William spent 20 years at BlackRock and its predecessors Mercury & Merrill Lynch, covering the technology sector. Portfolio manager since 2000, from 2008 to 2017 he was the sole portfolio manager for BlackRock’s offshore global technology fund, achieving top decile performance.

Prior to BlackRock, William served in the British Army. He had already started his career in finance by previously qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand. This is key to his success as a tech investor: his deep understanding of accounting and the financial measures of value creation enable him to focus on finding business models that create long-term investor value from technology and innovation. 

Sarah Nichols, Senior Portfolio Manager & Head of Research

Sarah was one of the founding members of Edgbaston in 2008. She has 27 years of experience in Asian equities. Sarah previously managed Asia ex-Japan institutional assets at both Singer & Friedlander Investment Management and Legal & General. She also previously worked at Credit Suisse and at UBS Investment Bank in institutional Asian equity sales.

Sarah received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Christ Church College, Oxford University in 1996 and a Master of Sciences in Economics and Development Economics from the University of Nottingham in 1998. She qualified as an Associate of the Institute of Investment Management and Research in 2000. 

Sean Peche, Portfolio Manager

Sean Peche has over 25 years of investment experience. He qualified as a chartered accountant in South Africa and began his investment career in 1997 when he joined Old Mutual Asset Management as an equity analyst.  In 2003, he joined London-based Orbis Investment Advisory, before leaving in 2008 to establish Ranmore Fund Management Ltd. He has managed the Ranmore Global Equity Fund since inception in 2008.
